John the Baptist was a radical man with a radical message; you must repent and be baptised. John was imprisoned by Herod and eventually killed. But he is alive forever in heaven with the Lord. The message is still the same for people today. “Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Jesus did not come to make us more comfortable; He came to give us the gift of forgiveness of sins and eternal life. We need to know the Scriptures so that we can understand the purposes of God and so that we can resist the devil’s temptations. God will not abandon us in our time of testing, but He will be there with us, watching over us and at the right time He will provide comfort and help.
Friends bring friends to Jesus, just as the paralyzed man’s friends brought him. Jesus did a great miracle when He healed the paralyzed man, but the even greater miracle was that He forgave the man of his sins. The healing gave him life for a few years, the forgiving gave him live forever.
Our sins are like a mountain of debt, but if we admit that we cannot pay it back, He will forgive us and cancel the debt. Walk with gratitude in your heart.
God created man in his image to reflect his glory as the moon reflects the sun. But sin breaks the image of God in man. Through Jesus God is restoring his image in us.
Like Peter, we all fail and sin at times, but if we repent, our Lord is ready to forgive us and cleanse us from all sin.
Choose to walk in the light by admitting that you are a sinner and confess your sins to God. Then He will forgive and cleanse us from all sin.
The filling of the Holy Spirit is available to all, but our hearts and lives are so full of the things of this world that we don’t leave room for the Holy Spirit. Let’s turn away from the things of this world, and let’s seek the Lord and draw near to Him.
We struggle in many spiritual battles. If we have really committed our lives to Jesus, we should be able to see how our relationship with Jesus has changed our lives.
Turn away from sin and turn to God by trusting in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Then our sins are wiped out. The mercy and grace of God are truly amazing.
Our life becomes miserable spiritually when we are far away from Jesus. But by God’s grace and mercy, we can always return to Him by remembering, repenting, and doing the first things that drew us closer to God.
We all need to guard our hearts and lives against every form of idol worship. Only by the grace of God we are able to avoid falling into the devil’s traps.
